Our Core Philosophy: Private by Design
Aqidah was built with a single overarching principle: your spiritual practice is between you and your Creator.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not require you to create an account to use our core features. Because Aqidah is built as an offline-first application, the vast majority of your data never leaves your physical device.
Data We Do NOT Collect
When you use the core features of Aqidah, the following data is saved securely in your device's local storage (AsyncStorage) and is never transmitted to our servers:
-
Daily Prayer Logs & Streak History: Your prayer confirmations, missed logs, and daily streak counts remain purely local.
-
Earned Rewards & Streak Freezes: Milestone badges, streak freeze balances, and level progression are stored locally on your device.
-
Personalized Settings: Calculation methods, Fiqh preferences (e.g. Hanafi/Shafi'i), notification toggles, and custom sound choices.
-
Knowledge Library Bookmarks: Saved guides, Surah recitations, and progress within the Knowledge Library.
Complete Control: If you delete the Aqidah app from your device, all of this local data is permanently erased.
Device Permissions & How We Use Them
To provide you with accurate utility, Aqidah requests specific device permissions. We handle these with strict boundaries:
Anonymous Product Analytics
To help us understand if the app is actually helping users build habits, we use a lightweight, privacy-first analytics tool (e.g., PostHog/Mixpanel).
We track anonymous usage events (e.g., "App Installed", "App Opened") to measure aggregate retention (how many people use the app for 7 days in a row).
We do not attach your personal identity, name, email, or exact prayer logs to these events. The data is tied to a randomly generated, anonymous ID to help us improve the user interface and catch software bugs.
Third-Party Services and Privacy
Aqidah is built with a commitment to user privacy. We will never share, sell, or rent your personal data to third-party data brokers or marketing agencies under any circumstances.
Children's Privacy
Because we prioritize privacy and do not collect unnecessary personal information, Aqidah is safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13.
Changes to This Policy
As we introduce new features (like optional Cloud Sync or premium subscriptions in future versions), this policy will be updated. We will always notify you of significant changes directly within the app before any new data practices take effect.
